Samoa settling into her new home -- it's really tough being a puppy who is loved!

Here is Dad trying to help Samoa get used to her new crate. Samoa says "Yeah right, Dad! You expect me to sleep in there? I'd much prefer in bed with you and Mom!!!" We think Samoa is getting spoiled just a bit, but how can you refuse a face like that?!

Abby

Rhonda has been wonderful about sending pictures and updates on little Miss Abby! Apparently she does lots of gardening at home, but she is as sweet as can be. She is spoiled with toys, loves her naps and 'hates' her crate, but she is growing

New Homes

Anchor left for his new home on Friday, May 26th and we hear everything is going really well. He has been held constantly by his 3 new sisters and 1 new brother. Anchor was a surprise gift to his new family from mom and dad (Lisa and Jim) pictured above -- what a great gift! Jim grew up in Bern Switzerland where Bernese originated so he has a bond with Anchor already!

Here is Miss Abby getting ready to go home with Rhonda, her new mom. Rhonda and Abby's dad Frank have been waiting anxiously for almost 2 years for their little girl. We think they're going to have their hands full with the 'diva' of the litter, but they swear it was love at first sight!! So far Abby will be keeping her name, she just dropped the 'e' :o)

Miss Abita went home on Sunday, May29th with her new Mom and Dad -- Jenny and Dan. Jenny has decided to call Abita Samoa in honor of her mom, Kona. We hear that Samoa has her new family wrapped VERY tightly around her little paw. Her Mom and Dad have the summer time off from med school so she figures she has ample time to train them to spoil her rotten!!!

Allagash stole the hearts of Sally and Dick. He was our tank with the biggest heart of all. After some careful thought, Allagash is now known to his family as Colby, perfect fit if you ask me. He has 2 other doggies and 19 horses that he shares his new 40 acre farm with. Yes, I think he's running the show already.

To all the new families - Congratulations and always keep the photos and emails coming!!! We miss out babies dearly, but so much look forward to watching them grow up!

5 Weeks Belated

Pups are more than a handful these days, but cuter than ever!! We are really so happy with what we've gotten from this breeding. Each personality and every little face is darling! Time is fast approaching that they will leave our hands and make a lucky family very happy. We still have some availability, so please contact me if you are interested at pcschenck@dejazzd.com

Time has been something tough to come by, but I will definitely try to get more stats and photos up of their 6 week birthday some time this weekend or early next week.

4 Weeks Old

They're definitely at the irresistable stage now. We don't know how we're going to let these puppies leave us in a few weeks. Personalities are showing through and even Noah seems to have a favorite. Here are a few pictures from today (they turned 4 weeks yesterday).

3-ish Weeks Old

Puppies turned three weeks on Saturday and they are keeping us much busier than before. They're all very close to hopping right on out of the whelping box and so the x-pens are on close stand-by now. Barking, growling, tail biting, playing, wagging... they're little berners now!

First Meal!

This little face says it all -- YUMMY! The puppies enjoyed their first meal of mush (puppy food mixed with goat's milk) today. I wanted to get more pictures, but my card filled up :o( Anyway, everyone thouroughly enjoyed the meal, and oddly enough, the puppy who started first and finished last was our little peanut Abita (pictured above). I think the other pups better look out, she's going to be the brut soon!

Allagash - 3 lb 11 oz (Such a BRUISER, but also the most cuddly of the crew)

Anchor - 3 lb 7 oz (Laid back boy until he smells Mom anywhere near they he's a speedster!)

Abbey - 3 lb 7 oz (Reminds me SOOO much of her Mommy!!)

Abita - 2 lb 14 oz (Abita wouldn't allow for a cute, sleeping picture, she's high energy for being the 'littlest kid'!)

1 1/2 Weeks

Just a little something... we've got some half open eyes!

1 Week Old

Puppies turned 1 week old yesterday. Everyone is gaining LOTS of weight and doing pretty darn good. All of the puppies now have names -- this is our first litter so they all start with A and anyone that know us know we love beer, so it seemed suitable to go with beer names beginning with A.

So we have Allagash, Anchor, Abita, and Abbey.

Allagash - 2 lb 6 oz
Anchor - 2 lb 7 oz
Abita - 1 lb 14 oz
Abbey - 2 lb 2 oz

Day 3

The puppies are growing fast. They're getting a tiny bit of pigment in their noses already.

The Puppies Have Arrived!

Great news! Kona's puppies have arrived!

After hours of labor and a few shots of oxytocin, Kona finally free whelped her first puppy (in the vets office) at around 2pm on Saturday afternoon. Kona did not take well to natural childbirth and after more waiting it was decided that her final three puppies would be delivered by c-section.

Kona had a girl, two boys, and another girl, in that order. The final girl was large and VERY high in the horn of her uterus, so the vet was very happy with the decision to go with a c-section. It was better for poor Kona believe it or not. More likely than not, she would have been back in the vets office to get that last pup out anyway.

Their approximate birth weights were:

Female 1: 12 ounces

Male 2: 1 pound 4 ounces

Male 3: 1 pound 4 ounces

Female 4: 1 pound
